It's been 22 years to the day when I enlisted. Goofy college freshman John became Private John. 11B - Infantry. CSC 2/130th.
Eventually I became LT John...
God willing, and the creek don't rise - I may someday be LTC John. One way or the other, it has been quite an experience.

But any officer who started out enlisted 11B is okay in my book. You may have gone over to the dark side of the farce, but I won't hold it against you.

Buck, is 67N okay? I enlisted as a Huey mechanic. That's right, I said Huey, and my original field jacket (issued at Basic Training) was OD Green (they had run out of BDU field jackets in my size).
And to think that MJ is about five months older than me!
40 years old, 22 years in the service. I almost cannot remember what it was like to not be in anymore.
Buck SGT - I do feel a bit old. I thought when I went to the dark side, I was supposed to have eldritch sources of energy?!

rfptIF you had told me in 1986 when I joined that we would be fighting a 2 front war in Afghanistan and Iraq and the Evil Empire would have folded without a whimper...I would have said you've been reading some of Inner Props sci-fi...
